Grote Markt

A surprise for many who never visited our city before: the ‘Grote Markt’ of Bergen op Zoom. This charming square is surrounded by numerous monumental buildings, with many cafes and restaurants.

The Markiezenhof

Located in the city centre of Bergen op Zoom is the late Gothic city palace the ‘Markiezenhof’. This monument was built in the late 15th century in honour and glory of the marquises of Bergen op Zoom.

The Peperbus

Climb the 183 steps of the ‘Peperbus’, the church tower of the ‘Sint Gertrudiskerk’ on the Grote Markt in Bergen op Zoom. Once upstairs, you can enjoy the beautiful view!

Gevangenpoort

The ‘Gevangenpoort’ is the only preserved medieval city gate of Bergen op Zoom. It is even one of the oldest remaining city gates in the Netherlands.

Fort de Roovere

‘Fort de Roovere’ is part of the West Brabant Waterline. From 1628, this waterline resisted several European armies.

National Park De Biesbosch
