Gevangenpoort

The Prison Gate is the only preserved medieval city gate of Bergen op Zoom. It is even one of the oldest remaining city gates in the Netherlands. Besides being used as a city gate it was also used as a prison for many years. In the wooden doors you can still see the names of the prisoners, which they scratched out during their imprisonment.
